Laboratorio ALTfoodsense

Key Research Groups

Food Science and Technology

Applied research in food quality, nutritional safety, and the development of innovative products. This group plays a key role in the technological support of ALTfoodsense and in transferring knowledge to the agri-food sector of the Alentejo region.

Animal Bioscience

Advanced studies in animal health, sustainable production, and welfare, contributing to the improvement of Mediterranean livestock systems and the quality of animal-based products.

Soil, Water and Agricultural Technology

Sustainable management of water resources, soil conservation, and the development of agricultural technologies adapted to the Mediterranean climate, essential for precision agriculture.

Driving ALTFoodSense Forward

The support of MED guarantees the scientific rigor and validity of our methodologies.

The MED Institute provides the scientific and technological ecosystem that makes ALTFoodSense possible. Through the Food Science and Technology group and the Oral Biology Laboratory, MED facilitates the transfer of SensePredict technology to the agri-food sector of Alentejo.

This collaboration enables local companies to access innovative sensory evaluation methods based on artificial saliva, improving product quality and competitiveness in international markets.

  • Scientific knowledge transfer to the agri-food sector.
  • Access to SensePredict technology and advanced equipment.
  • Collaboration with companies from Alentejo.
  • Specialized training in food science.
